About the event
A play in two weeks is a chance to put on a full scale performance. The two weeks will include drama games, being cast in a role, line learning, character work, physical work and much much more. There will be set, costume and lighting and sound to help bring the play to life. This course goes into more detail than our single week course and pushes students to think more deeply about their craft whilst not missing out on any of the fun. Typically, we use a classical text such as a Shakespeare on this course, and the play will be directed by Jonathan Woolf.
Jonathan trained at Drama Centre London (3 year BA Hons), and has worked as an actor since he was 8 years old. Work includes – The Merchant of Venice (Arcola), War and Peace (Shared Experience), Arden of Faversham (Rose Theatre), A Bold Stroke for a Husband (Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds), Travelling Light (National Theatre), The Mousetrap (UK Tour), Darkness Darkness (Nottingham Playhouse), Henry V (The Barn Theatre), Astoria (Young Vic film), The Crown (TV).
Jonathan has taught and directed at the Young Actors Theatre since 2009, from seniors to adults classes and foundation course. Jonathan has also taught with Bigfoot Theatre company, and works extensively with The Globe Theatre, running Shakespeare workshops for different age groups and directing projects. (including Globe Youth Theatre, Our Theatre, TSTP, Course Director- New Zealand Young Company and international work.) Jonathan has directed at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Manchester Theatre School, Mountview and East 15, Including 2ndyear and 3rd BA Hons shows and doing scene study and audition panel work.
