Summer Holiday: Intro to Devised Theatre (ages 13-18)

This is a one-week summer course focused on devised and immersive theatre, where the young people take full creative ownership from day one. They’ll start by collaboratively building an original story—choosing the genre, creating characters, and developing the world. From there, they’ll explore how to use YATI’s spaces to make the experience immersive, thinking about audience interaction, sound, movement, and atmosphere.

Throughout the week, they’ll rotate roles—not just as performers, but as writers, directors, designers and composers—building the piece collectively. The week will culminate in a 360° performance for friends and family on day five.

The course is open to anyone interested in making their own work, not just actors.

Collaboration and imagination will be at the core of the process.

Last year’s group created a horror/thriller inspired by Stranger Things, D&D, and Mean Girls—the tone and content this year will depend entirely on the group.
